1st day: Benvenuti- Welcome
Journey to Spilimbergo, one of the most beautiful, historical and artistically most valuable localities in Friuli. Spilimbergo is also called “the city of the mosaic”. After your check in at the hotel**** you explore the hill landscape of San Daniele with your bike and enjoy the fantastic panorama. After this, there is time for a long walk through picturesque lanes of the center. The palaces in Venetian style offer you a great scenery. Afterwards you will enjoy Friulian delicacies at a very good Trattoria near the hotel.
2nd day: The vineyards "Grave del Friuli"

The route leads us to the vineyards “Grave del Friuli”, which are famous for its international production of wine. The farmers are very proud of their grapevines. There is a lot of culture and tradition and you can talk about these characteristics during a wine tasting. Next, you’ll experience a bicycle tour through the hilly landscape “Grave del Friuli” and through the historical atmosphere of Valvasone, the pearl of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, with medieval houses and impressive palaces. Dinner at a typical “Trattoria” with regional delicacies near the hotel.
3rd day: Between nature and art

Visit of the mosaic school in Spilimbergo. The day begins with an easy bike tour on gravel roads surrounded by meadows – the tour leads you over the old path of the XVII. century, which crosses the old possessions of the Venetian family Manin. You can expect different surroundings – oak woods, peaty soils and the “magredi” (typical soils in Friuli, similar to the Russian steppe). Then we cycle through the Friulian plain on gravel roads, which were travel ways between sea and hills in former times. Admire the natural landscapes, fields surrounded by hedges and line of trees, which disappear in the horizon! Worth seeing: the Villa Manin, one of the most gorgeous Venetian villas of the 18th century, which was once the residence of Napoleon Bonaparte. This mansion is surrounded by a huge park (20.000 ha). There are different plants, alleys with mythological marble statues, endless meadows, which are famous for its numerous daffodils in spring. It is also worth seeing the arms and carriage museum. Dinner at our “Trattoria” with regional delicacies.
4th day: “Path of prosciutto and castles”
About 70 km About 350 m altitude difference.
Enjoy a bicycle tour and get to know moraine landscapes from the last ice age. This landscape is one of the most beautiful places in Friuli. This tour mainly leads you over tracks and few used asphalt roads where nature is dominant. On this fascinating route you pass medieval castles, parish courts and mansions. You’ll experience history, eno gastronomy and you’ll discover the hilly landscape of San Daniele (prosciutto tasting at a restaurant). Dinner at a typical “Trattoria” with regional delicacies.
5th day: Trip to Trieste – Shopping and relaxing – or mountain bike
Drive to the railroad station in Carsarsa, where you’ll park your cars all day. Arrival in Trieste (Habsburg city at the Adriatic Sea); walk through the world famous and beautiful historic city. Through the “Canal Grande” on the impressive Calle of Trieste to the Piazza Unità d’Italia with its historical cafes. Return in the late evening. Alternative to, you can go on a varied mountain bike tour starting form your hotel. You get top suggestions from the hotel owner, who also is your mountain bike guide. Dinner at a typical “Trattoria” with regional delicacies.
6th day: The sea – about 75 km
Our day begins with a biking tour along the longest and most important rivers in Friuli – the river Tagliamento. Along its banks, through fern and reed, we dive into a Mediterranean atmosphere, which once inspired Hemingway to write one of his most famous novels. The biking tour leads you through a natural and picturesque area. During this tour you’ll observe unbelievable landscapes of the Friulian plain and of the Adriatic Sea. On deserted meadows, which reflect into the river, you can observe Eurasian buzzards on foraging and gnawed barks, which is characteristic for wild hogs. Finally, we reach the beach on a shady forest path. Here we can admire a lighthouse which gives a unique atmosphere. Return to the hotel with the bus. Dinner at our typical “Trattoria” with regional delicacies.
7th day:
Departure – bicycle tour, mountain bike tour of your own choice!
